Gyeongju: President Lee Jae Myung expressed a desire to further strengthen relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during a meeting with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed Al Nahyan. The discussion took place on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Gyeongju, which commenced its two-day agenda on Friday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, President Lee emphasized the unique "special strategic partnership" that exists between South Korea and the UAE, highlighting the UAE as the sole Middle Eastern nation to hold such a status with South Korea. He conveyed optimism that the visit by the crown prince would lead to further development in the bilateral relationship.
Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid expressed his hope for President Lee to visit the UAE in November, describing the ties between the two countries as distinguished and crucial. He also extended congratulations to President Lee on the successful hosting of the APEC summit, underscoring the importance of strengthened cooperation among Asian nations for the UAE.
