Gyeongju: President Lee Jae Myung stated that South Korea will persist in implementing preemptive measures to reduce military tensions and foster trust with North Korea, aiming to promote peace on the Korean Peninsula. The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Gyeongju.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee addressed the challenges posed by military confrontation and nuclear issues, emphasizing their impact on stability and cooperation not only on the Korean Peninsula but also throughout the Asia-Pacific region. He expressed South Korea's aspiration to initiate a new era of peaceful coexistence and shared prosperity on the Korean Peninsula, anchored in resolving issues through dialogue.
Lee highlighted that South Korea has already embarked on preemptive actions to ease military tensions and rebuild trust between the two Koreas. He pledged to continue taking even more proactive measures to advance peace efforts.
