Gyeongju: Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member economies to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation and deepen technology partnerships. Xi delivered his message during the second session of the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting held in Gyeongju.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Xi emphasized the significance of artificial intelligence, urging APEC economies to consider humanity's well-being. He advocated for the promotion of artificial intelligence development in a manner that is beneficial, safe, and equitable.
Xi further called for the strengthening of open-source technological cooperation and the cultivation of a competitive open innovation ecosystem among APEC members. He stressed the importance of acknowledging common but differentiated responsibilities and encouraged developed economies to support developing economies in areas such as funding, technology transfer, and capacity building.
Additionally, Xi announced that Shenzhen, a major Chinese city, will host the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in November of the following year.
