KOTRA Hosts Business Forum for AI, Energy Cooperation Between S. Korea, UAE

Abu dhabi: The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) announced it has hosted a business forum focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and energy in Abu Dhabi, aiming to enhance cooperation between South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in these sectors. The event, titled the 2025 Korea-UAE Business Partnership, was part of the official sideline activities of the business roundtable between the two nations.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the forum, held on Thursday, brought together 23 AI and energy companies from South Korea, alongside 69 firms from the UAE, Qatar, and other regional countries. During the event, South Korean companies committed to exploring potential business deals with regional partners, collectively valued at US$12.85 million.

The forum followed a summit earlier in the week between South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi. The leaders agreed to develop a joint cooperation model for entering global markets, inspired by the Barakah nuclear power plant project. This plant, constructed by South Korea's Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO), represents Korea's first overseas nuclear energy plant initiative.

Additionally, South Korea has decided to participate in the UAE's Stargate project, which focuses on AI and energy infrastructure.
