Seoul: The foreign ministry of South Korea has announced a travel ban on certain regions in Venezuela, amid ongoing political tensions between the Venezuelan government and the United States.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the travel ban, categorized as Level 4, is the highest in South Korea's four-tier travel warning system. It will be enforced starting at 11 p.m. in the Venezuelan border states of Zulia, Tachira, Apure, and Sucre. Notably, the ban excludes the capitals of these states and the eastern region of Zulia.
The remainder of Venezuela is currently under a Level 3 travel advisory, which strongly recommends citizens to evacuate those areas. Under South Korean law, individuals who travel to or remain in regions designated as Level 4 without obtaining special permission may face legal consequences.
