Acting President Orders Troops to Respond Overwhelmingly to Enemy’s Provocations

Paju: Acting President Han Duck-soo visited troops on the front lines Tuesday and ordered them to respond overwhelmingly to any provocation from the enemy. Han met with troops of the Army's 1st Infantry Division in the border city of Paju and checked the military's readiness.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Han stressed the importance of anticipating all provocation scenarios North Korea might initiate, emphasizing thorough preparation. "Under the grave security situation, we must anticipate all provocation scenarios that North Korea could stage and prepare thoroughly," he stated. Han further instructed the troops to maintain a firm military readiness posture to deter enemy provocations and to respond overwhelmingly if provoked.

During his visit, Han also toured Camp Bonifas, which houses the United Nations Command Security Battalion-Joint Security Area. He received briefings from the battalion's commander and deputy commander. Additionally, Han met with both South Korean and U.S. troops serving in the battalion, underscoring its significance as a symbol of the strong alliance between South Korea and the United States.
