Riyadh: The chief of the Air Force will visit Saudi Arabia this week to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation on defense and the defense manufacturing industry, officials said Monday. During his five-day trip starting Monday, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Lee Young-su will meet with senior military officials of Saudi Arabia, including Lt. Gen. Fayyadh Bin Hamed Al Ruwaili, the Chief of the General Staff of Saudi Arabia, and the commander of the Saudi Air Force, Turki Bin Bandar Al Saud.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee is also expected to visit the Saudi Air Force's Air Warfare Center and a local air force academy. A military official stated that the visit is aimed at promoting the homegrown KF-21 fighter jets and the Cheongung-II, a surface-to-air missile (M-SAM) defense system.

The South Korea-developed Cheongung-II system has been exported to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
