Gyeongju: Activists protesting against U.S. President Donald Trump clashed with police on the margins of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) gathering in Gyeongju. The confrontation occurred as protesters attempted to breach the main venue of Trump's summit with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung.
According to Yonhap News Agency, around 70 anti-U.S. demonstrators participating in a rally in Gyeongju overcame a police barrier and advanced approximately 100 meters outside the Gyeongju National Museum, where President Trump's meeting with President Lee was scheduled. Despite physical confrontations between police and protesters holding banners with messages such as "No Trump," no injuries were reported.
In response to the protests, police established a roadblock using police vehicles on the road leading to the museum to manage any potential emergencies. Additionally, a separate group of about 20 college students organized another anti-Trump demonstration around 5:40 p.m. in front of the Hilton Hotel near the summit venue, where President Trump was staying.
Authorities deployed approximately 100 police personnel to disperse the rally and maintain order in the area.
