Authorities Conclude Initial Investigation of Air Busan Plane Fire

Gimhae: Authorities have concluded an initial on-site inspection of a fire-destroyed Air Busan plane, officials said. The Air Busan aircraft caught fire at Gimhae International Airport on January 28, with all 176 passengers safely evacuated via an escape slide, though seven individuals sustained minor injuries.

According to Yonhap News Agency, based on the results of the initial probe, authorities plan to announce a preliminary report on the incident by February 28. An official noted, "Preliminary on-site inspection has been completed, though it doesn't mean the entire investigation is over."

Authorities have concentrated efforts on securing security camera footage from the aircraft and conducting interviews with passengers and airline officials. The exact cause of the fire remains undetermined, but some passengers and crew members have suggested the possibility that it was ignited by a portable battery or other items stored in an overhead bin.
