Bird Flu Outbreak: Albania, Namibia, and India Impose Total Ban on Brazilian Chicken Imports

Brasília: Albania, Namibia, and India have joined a growing list of countries that have imposed a complete ban on chicken imports from Brazil due to concerns over an avian flu outbreak. The decision follows the detection and containment of bird flu in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, prompting global trade partners to take precautionary measures.According to Nam News Network, the Brazilian Agriculture and Livestock Ministry announced that, in addition to Albania, Namibia, and India, a total of 22 countries, including China, the European Union, and South Korea, have already enforced similar bans. Meanwhile, Angola has implemented a more targeted restriction, ceasing imports only from the affected state rather than the entire country. The ministry emphasized that these preventive actions aim to ensure health safety and facilitate the safe resumption of exports in the future. They also reassured the public that consuming poultry meat and eggs poses no health risks.
