Biz Lobby to Support Employment of Former USFK Service Members

Seoul: A major business lobby announced its plans to launch a platform aimed at facilitating job opportunities for former U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) members within South Korean companies operating in the United States.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea-U.S. Alliance Foundation (KUSAF) to assist companies in recruiting candidates who possess a strong understanding of Korean culture. This collaboration is designed to promote the platform among South Korean businesses while encouraging retired military personnel to explore job prospects with Korean firms in the U.S.

KCCI emphasized that the platform will provide retired U.S. service members with employment opportunities in the private sector, while allowing South Korean companies to hire a workforce that is characterized by responsibility and adaptability. Additionally, the collaboration will enable South Korean companies in the United States to qualify for tax incentives when they employ veterans.

KUSAF President Leem Ho-young noted that the MOU is expected to improve the morale of the 28,500-strong USFK and offer practical compensation for their service in South Korea.
