Bridge Collapse at Cheonan Highway Construction Site Claims Three Lives

Cheonan: A bridge collapsed at an expressway construction site in Cheonan, resulting in the deaths of three workers and injuries to five others, local authorities reported. The tragic incident took place around 9:50 a.m. at a construction site on the Seoul-Sejong expressway, approximately 80 kilometers south of Seoul.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the collapse involved five 50-meter-long steel beams that gave way sequentially while workers were using a crane to maneuver the steel beams between piers. All eight individuals who were either killed or injured were working directly beneath the bridge at the time of the accident.

In response to the incident, the National Fire Agency issued an order to mobilize firefighters to search for any individuals who may still be missing. Acting President Choi Sang-mok has also provided emergency instructions to allocate all available resources and personnel to support the ongoing rescue operation.
