SEOUL: An 83-ton car ferry capsized off the southwestern coast on Monday evening, leaving two individuals rescued and five others missing, according to the Coast Guard. The incident occurred at approximately 6:35 p.m. in the waters west of Seosan, located about 100 kilometers southwest of Seoul.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the ferry was believed to be carrying seven people at the time of the accident. Coast Guard officials have successfully rescued two passengers and are actively searching for the remaining five individuals. Rescue operations have been hampered by strong currents resulting from the high tide, making the search efforts challenging.
