Chinese Ambassador Visits Pyongyang’s Grand People’s Study House

Pyongyang: China's ambassador to North Korea has visited the Grand People's Study House, the largest library in Pyongyang, and expressed hope for the development of bilateral relations, according to the website of the embassy on Friday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Ambassador Wang Yajun visited the library located at Kim Il-sung Square on Tuesday, accompanied by Pyongyang-based diplomats, and toured its facilities. The ambassador was received by the library's deputy director during his visit.

The embassy noted that the library has been offering Chinese language courses, with each session accommodating up to 700 citizens from Pyongyang who are eager to learn the language. Ambassador Wang expressed his hope that the library would enhance exchanges and cooperation with Chinese institutions to foster more talent for socialist development and the advancement of relations between the two nations.

This visit comes amid efforts by Pyongyang and Beijing to improve their ties, which had been strained due to North Korea's recent alignment with Russia, including the deployment of troops to support Moscow in the conflict with Ukraine.

Additionally, the embassy disclosed that its charge d'affaires, Feng Chuntai, visited the northeastern cities of Chongjin and Rason from Sunday to Monday. During his visit, he toured factories and inspected port facilities. Rason, which borders the Chinese city of Hunchun, is a special economic zone crucial for North Korea-Chinese economic cooperation.
