Seoul: A Seoul court on Wednesday dismissed a request to issue a detention warrant for former President Yoon Suk Yeol in connection with his declaration of martial law last year, the special counsel said. The Seoul Central District Court rejected the special counsel's request, which was made on Tuesday as part of an investigation into Yoon's alleged obstruction of official duties and other charges related to the short-lived martial law imposition.
According to Yonhap News Agency, upon the court decision, it notified Yoon and his legal team to appear at 9 a.m. Saturday, officials said. The special counsel had been investigating the circumstances around Yoon's declaration of martial law, which was imposed briefly and led to allegations of obstructing official duties. The dismissal of the detention warrant means that Yoon will not be taken into custody at this time, allowing him to prepare for the upcoming legal proceedings.
