Seoul: A Seoul court on Thursday imposed a 15 million-won (US$10,581) fine on the daughter of former President Moon Jae-in for charges related to drunk driving and operating an Airbnb business without proper authorization.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Seoul Western District Court issued the fine to Moon Da-hye, highlighting her elevated blood alcohol level and substantial earnings from the unauthorized lodging business as significant factors in their decision. Moon, aged 42, faced accusations of colliding her vehicle with a taxi while attempting to change lanes in the Itaewon district of Seoul last October. Her blood alcohol concentration was recorded at 0.149 percent, surpassing the 0.08 percent limit that warrants driver's license revocation.
In addition to the drunk driving charge, Moon was also accused of conducting an Airbnb business without formal registration at three locations in Seoul's Yeongdeungpo district and on Jeju Island. The prosecution had previously sought a one-year prison sentence for Moon.
Prosecutors are currently considering whether to appeal the court's decision after reviewing the verdict.
