Changwon: The NC Dinos have announced that their key player, Matt Davidson, will be out of action for four to six weeks due to a broken rib. Davidson was diagnosed with a hairline fracture on the right side after undergoing a test earlier in the day.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Dinos currently have no plans to sign a temporary replacement for Davidson. With the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) heading into an All-Star break from Friday to next Wednesday, the team is considering the option of bringing in a new foreign player on a short-term basis. This decision will be made after monitoring Davidson's recovery during the midseason break.
KBO rules permit teams to sign foreign players to temporary contracts when a player is sidelined for at least six weeks. This season, several teams, including the LG Twins, the Hanwha Eagles, the SSG Landers, and the Kiwoom Heroes, have utilized this rule.
Davidson, who led the KBO with 46 home runs last season, has been a significant player since his arrival in South Korea. This year, he ranks fifth in the league with 16 home runs, despite missing a portion of the season due to injuries, playing in only 63 of the Dinos' first 83 games.
The Dinos are currently positioned eighth in the 10-team league with a record of 38 wins, 40 losses, and 5 ties.
