Doosan Robotics to Acquire U.S. Robotics Firm Onexia in Strategic Move

Seoul: Doosan Robotics Inc. announced its plan to acquire Onexia, a robotics engineering firm based in the United States, as a step towards enhancing its capabilities in intelligent robotics solutions. The South Korean company aims to secure an 89.59 percent stake in Onexia through a combination of share acquisition and capital increase, with a total investment of approximately 35.6 billion won, equivalent to US$25.8 million.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Doosan Robotics intends to purchase the remaining shares over the next three to five years to achieve full ownership of Onexia. Onexia, founded in 1984, has expertise in designing, building, and supplying automated systems in sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, and packaging. The firm has recently experienced robust growth, with a focus on developing solutions for applications like palletizing, box assembly, and packaging, maintaining an average annual sales growth rate of 30 percent.

Doosan Robotics stated that this acquisition aligns with its strategy to transition from a hardware-centric business model to one that emphasizes intelligent robotic solutions, thereby enhancing its competitive edge in the industry.
