Seoul: Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung maintained a significant lead in approval ratings among candidates for the June 3 presidential election, a survey showed Thursday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the National Barometer Survey (NBS) revealed that Lee led the poll with 43 percent, marking a 1 percentage point increase from the previous week. Former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo followed with 23 percent, while former Labor Minister Kim Moon-soo of the conservative People Power Party (PPP) garnered 12 percent.
Kim has resisted efforts to unify his candidacy with Han, despite pressure from the party leadership to present a single candidate to challenge the Democratic Party's Lee. The survey was conducted by pollsters Embrain Public, Kstat Research, Korea Research, and Hankook Research. It included 1,000 individuals aged 18 and older, surveyed from Monday to Wednesday, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level.
