Seoul: Former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo declared his bid for president Friday, one month before voters head to the polls to pick a successor to impeached former President Yoon Suk Yeol. Han announced his bid for the June 3 election at the National Assembly, a day after he resigned as acting president and prime minister.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Han, who served as prime minister under both liberal and conservative presidents and also held the position of South Korean ambassador to the United States, has been a favorite among conservatives. He is expected to challenge Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the liberal Democratic Party, in the upcoming election.
