Ex-President Yoon Indicted Over Alleged Interference in Marine Death Case

Seoul: The special counsel investigating the 2023 death of a Marine announced Friday the indictment of former President Yoon Suk Yeol on charges of interfering with a military probe into the case. Yoon has been accused of instructing the presidential office and the defense ministry to overturn the initial conclusions of a military investigation regarding the death of Cpl. Chae Su-geun, aiming to absolve a then Marine commander of blame.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the latest indictment is an addition to other charges against the former leader related to his brief imposition of martial law on December 3. The investigation into Yoon's alleged interference comes amidst broader legal challenges he faces following his tenure as president.
