The main opposition Democratic Party (DP) and its affiliated party are expected to secure more than a majority of parliamentary seats in Wednesday’s general elections, an exit poll showed.
The DP and the Democratic United Party, the DP’s so-called satellite sister party that only targets proportional representation seats, are expected to secure a combined 168-193 seats in the 300-member National Assembly, according to the poll conducted by cable broadcaster JTBC.
The ruling People Power Party and its affiliated People Future Party are likely to win 87-111 seats.
Up for grabs are 300 seats, with 254 of them to be selected through direct elections and the remaining 46 proportional representation seats to be allocated to parties according to the number of votes they receive overall.
