Paju: An explosion at an Army artillery unit in the northwestern city of Paju left at least 10 soldiers injured, officials said. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. during artillery drills at the unit, which were conducted without live ammunition.
According to Yonhap News Agency, a practice shell used to simulate explosion sound effects reportedly detonated during the drills. None of the injured soldiers were in critical condition. Two soldiers suffered burns on their arms and legs, while the remaining eight were treated for burns on their hands.
A total of 12 soldiers participated in the drills. Military authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine the cause and prevent future occurrences.
