Seoul: South Korean fabless semiconductor company FADU Inc. announced plans to expand its business portfolio beyond its mainstay solid-state drive (SSD) controller to meet the increasing demand for high-performance artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. The company aims to integrate AI solutions into its production process to enhance productivity and to develop next-generation AI storage solutions.
According to Yonhap News Agency, FADU's expansion strategy reflects its vision that semiconductor chips will become pivotal across various industries, driven by demand from cloud data centers. Lee Ji-hyo, the chief executive officer of FADU, emphasized the company's ambition to leverage its experience from the global semiconductor market to transition into a global chip company.
FADU is known for designing chips particularly for data centers and currently focuses on high-performance, low-power SSD controllers that function as the core of SSDs. The company anticipates record earnings this year, largely due to the strong performance of its Gen5 Controller. FADU is also in the process of developing a next-generation controller aimed at attracting global tech giants.
