FAMA TARGETS RM7.3 MLN SALES AT FAMA FEST 2024

NILAI, The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) is targeting sales of RM7.3 million involving 580 entrepreneurs for this year’s nationwide FAMA Fest.

Its director-general, Abdul Rashid Bahri said the target involves the organisation of eight FAMA Fest, being held from February to December.

“For Negeri Sembilan, FAMA is targeting sales of RM250,000, with the arrival of 10,000 visitors for the four-day programme, which began yesterday, at the parking lot of the Nilai AEON. I see that various local products from this state can be highlighted at the international level,’ he said in his speech at the opening ceremony of the FAMA Fest 2024@Negeri Sembilan here today.

Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the programme gives local entrepreneurs the opportunity to export their products t
o international markets in Hong Kong, China and Thailand and expected to generate sales of RM2 million.

He said FAMA Fest 2024 is the best platform to promote local products for foreign trade.

At the opening ceremony, Aminuddin also presented grant incentives, totalling RM480,650, to 32 recipients covering seven FAMA projects.

These projects include Pembangunan Produk Usahawan Mikro IMAT, Naiktaraf Agrobazaar K-Shoppe, Agrobazaar K-Shoppe Baru, Program Pembangunan dan Penjenamaan Produk Usahawan Melalui Kerjasama Pihak Industri Berkepakaran (PIB), Geran Agropreneur Muda (GAM), Geran Agropelancongan Geran Insentif Peralatan and Pembangunan Pusat Pengumpulan Ladang (PPL) Rakan Pemasar Kontrak Pemasaran (RPKP) 2024.

Among the main attractions of FAMA Fest 2024@Negeri Sembilan are various sales such as the sale of 230 SKU (stock keeping units) agricultural-based food industry products, 10 tonnes of fresh products, 1,400 MADANI combo packs with a savings of up to RM5 per combo, 6,000 local white rice sales bas
kets, Agrobazaar Online vouchers worth up to RM4,000, and many more.

In another development, the state Rural Development, Plantation and Commodity Action Committee chairman Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias said the state government received complaints from domestic breeders about a glut of cows and goats.

Jalaluddin said the domestic breeders needed FAMA’s help to market their oversupply of 100 cows and goats for them.

“I suggest FAMA finds the best approach so that these breeders do not feel at a loss, I believe there are various methods that can be used. Negeri Sembilan has no shortage of meat ahead of Hari Raya Aidiladha, so breeders are advised to sell at a reasonable price,” he added.
