New york: Foreign Minister Cho Hyun has communicated to U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright the necessity for South Korea to obtain permission to enrich uranium and reprocess nuclear fuel for commercial purposes, as confirmed by the foreign ministry. This discussion took place during their meeting on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in New York.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Cho emphasized the importance of South Korea securing the complete nuclear fuel cycle, which includes enrichment and reprocessing, to ensure energy security. He further clarified that the proposed nuclear activities would be strictly for commercial use.
