FSC Chief Nominee Stresses Greater Role of Finance in Overcoming Crises

Seoul: The nominee for chairman of the Financial Services Commission (FSC) vowed Thursday to prioritize a shift toward productive finance, the revitalization of financial markets, and the management of household debt. Lee Eog-weon made the remarks upon arrival at the office where his confirmation hearing preparation team is based.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee emphasized the critical and urgent role finance must play in overcoming crises and supporting real economic growth. He stated his commitment to accelerating efforts to shift toward productive finance and ensuring the public can feel the impact of key policy goals, such as strengthening inclusive finance and revitalizing the capital market.

Lee also highlighted managing household debt and enhancing financial consumer protection as key policy priorities. He pledged to work closely with the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) to achieve these objectives.
