G7 Ministers Urge North Korea to Cease Nuclear Arms and Criticize Military Support to Russia

La Malbaie: The top diplomats of the Group of Seven (G7) countries called Friday for North Korea to abandon all its nuclear and ballistic missile programs, and condemned Pyongyang's military aid to support Russia's war in Ukraine.According to Yonhap News Agency, the foreign ministers of the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Britain, and the High Representative of the European Union issued a joint statement after their meeting in La Malbaie, Canada. The statement demanded that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) abandon all its nuclear weapons and any other weapons of mass destruction, as well as ballistic missile programs, in line with all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.The statement also highlighted serious concerns about North Korea's cryptocurrency thefts and urged the resolution of abductions issues immediately. The ministers expressed disapproval of North Korea, Iran, and China's support to Russia amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.The G7 mem bers condemned the provision of military assistance to Russia by North Korea and Iran, and the supply of weapons and dual-use components by China, which they described as a decisive enabler of Russia's war and the reconstitution of its armed forces. They reiterated their intention to take action against such third countries involved in the conflict.
