Giants’ Lee Jung-hoo Fails to Reach Base for Only 2nd Time in ’25

Philadelphia: Coming off a massive weekend in New York, Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants was held in check to open a new series in Philadelphia. Lee went 0-for-5 with a career-worst three strikeouts as the Giants defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 10-4 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Monday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Giants pounded out 12 hits, but only Lee and LaMonte Wade Jr. failed to get a hit in their starting lineup. This was only the second time in 15 games so far this season that Lee failed to reach base. He is still batting a robust .322/.394/.644 this year in his sophomore campaign.

In a three-game series against the New York Yankees over the weekend, Lee batted 4-for-9 with three home runs and seven RBIs, and grabbed the National League lead in doubles (eight), slugging percentage (.704), and on-base plus slugging (1.130).

In Monday's game, Lee struck out looking against starter Taijuan Walker in the first inning and grounded out to second in his next time up in the second inning. In the top fifth, Lee struck out on a foul tip after swinging on a 3-2 splitter by Walker. Facing reliever Tanner Banks in the seventh, Lee fanned on a four-seam fastball for his third strikeout of the game. Lee grounded out in the ninth in his final trip to the plate.
