Government and Ruling Party Unveil Support Measures for Wildfire Victims

Seoul: The government and the ruling People Power Party (PPP) announced on Thursday a series of support measures aimed at aiding victims of the recent wildfires that devastated the southeastern region of the country, including the provision of temporary housing units.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the government and the PPP have agreed to expedite the construction of approximately 2,700 temporary homes to meet the urgent housing needs of the displaced residents. This was detailed by Kim Sang-hoon, the PPP's top policy chief, during a press briefing after a policy meeting.

For residents whose homes were destroyed in designated special disaster zones, the government plans to offer loans up to 124 million won (US$84,520) at favorable interest rates. Additionally, displaced individuals in these zones opting for private rental housing will be eligible for rental support of up to 130 million won, as stated by Kim.
