Government Announces 140 Billion Won Treasury Bonds Issuance for October

Seoul: The finance ministry announced on Wednesday its plans to issue 140 billion won (US$100.42 million) in government bonds for individual investors next month. This move is part of the government's ongoing efforts to facilitate retail investment in state securities.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the issuance limits for these bonds by maturity have been set at 90 billion won for five-year bonds, 40 billion won for 10-year bonds, and 10 billion won for 20-year bonds. These bonds are aimed at providing more investment opportunities for individual investors, allowing them to diversify their investment portfolios with government-backed securities.

The Ministry of Finance and Economy also outlined its broader issuance strategy, indicating that approximately 1.3 trillion won in Treasury bonds is slated for issuance to retail investors by the end of 2025. This long-term plan underscores the government's commitment to increasing public participation in the financial markets and enhancing the accessibility of government bonds to individual investors.
