Gyeonggi: The Gyeonggi provincial government announced plans to hold an event later this week to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the Pyongyang Joint Declaration, which was issued following inter-Korean summits in 2018.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the event will take place on Friday at Camp Greaves, a former U.S. military camp near the Demilitarized Zone that separates North and South Korea. The summit in 2018 saw former South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un agreeing on steps towards denuclearization, contingent on actions by the United States.
The ceremony is co-hosted by the unification ministry and a network of liberal nonprofit organizations. It aims to share the historic significance of the summit agreement and foster discussions on peace on the Korean Peninsula. The event will feature a commemorative address by former President Moon and a panel discussion led by former Unification Minister Kim Yeon-chul.
