Abu Dhabi: Hanwha Aerospace Co. and LIG Nex1 Co., prominent South Korean defense equipment firms, plan to showcase their latest air defense systems at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2025 in the United Arab Emirates this month, the companies said Thursday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Hanwha Aerospace, in collaboration with affiliate Hanwha Systems Co., will present its long-range surface-to-air missile (L-SAM) system at the IDEX 2025. The event, recognized as the Middle East's largest defense industry trade show, is scheduled to take place from February 17-21 in Abu Dhabi. This marks the first overseas exhibition of the advanced missile defense system by Hanwha Aerospace.
The Hanwha Group's display will include key components of the L-SAM system, such as interceptor missiles, launchers, and multifunction radars. Meanwhile, LIG Nex1, a regular participant of the trade show since 2009, plans to highlight its flagship Cheongung-II missile defense system, alongside the L-SAM system and a low-altitude missile defense (LAMD) system.
LIG Nex1 has previously secured export deals for the Cheongung-II system with countries including Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. The company also intends to exhibit its latest developments in unmanned and smart warfare technologies, featuring unmanned surface vehicles and advanced guided weapons for its unmanned aerial vehicles.
