Seoul: Hanwha Group, South Korea's chemicals-to-shipbuilding conglomerate, announced its comprehensive support for the upcoming 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit. The event is set to take place later this month in Gyeongju, a city in the southeastern region of South Korea.
According to Yonhap News Agency, as an official sponsor, Hanwha will host a large-scale fireworks and drone show during the official gala dinner on October 31. This performance, featuring 50,000 fireworks and 2,000 drones, aims to highlight Korea's cultural heritage while showcasing its progress into the future. The display is intended to reflect the legacy of the ancient Shilla Dynasty.
Hanwha is no stranger to organizing large-scale events, having previously arranged fireworks shows for significant international occasions such as the 1988 Seoul Olympics, the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, and the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. As a Diamond sponsor, Hanwha will also contribute to the APEC CEO Summit, an event that gathers global business leaders and government officials.
In addition to the fireworks show, Hanwha's three defense affiliates-Hanwha Aerospace Co., Hanwha Systems Co., and Hanwha Ocean Co.-will jointly host a tech forum alongside the APEC CEO Summit. This initiative aligns with Hanwha's strategy to expand its global defense and shipbuilding presence through partnerships and acquisitions, aimed at enhancing cooperation with the United States and other allies.
The APEC Summit is scheduled from October 31 to November 1 in Gyeongju, located 330 kilometers south of Seoul, and will be attended by world leaders and top corporate executives.
