Seoul: Hanwha Ocean Co., a prominent South Korean shipbuilder, announced on Monday that it has clinched a 371 billion-won (US$257.7 million) agreement to construct two very large crude carriers (VLCCs) for an Oceanian shipping company.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the shipbuilder stated that the VLCCs are scheduled for delivery to the unnamed shipping entity by July 2027. This new contract adds to Hanwha Ocean's impressive order book for the year.
So far in 2023, Hanwha Ocean has secured orders totaling US$3 billion. These orders encompass the construction of 14 vessels, which include six VLCCs, six container ships, and two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.
