Seoul: HD Hyundai Electric Co., a prominent South Korean electric equipment manufacturer, has announced a significant contract to supply its eco-friendly high-voltage circuit breakers to Finland. The deal marks a notable achievement for the company in expanding its European market presence.

According to Yonhap News Agency, HD Hyundai Electric is set to deliver 14 units of its innovative 145 kilovolt (kV) SF6-free circuit breakers to a Finnish engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm. These circuit breakers play a crucial role in power systems, enabling the swift disconnection of abnormal currents to safeguard facilities and ensure human safety.

The company’s circuit breaker is the first of its kind to be developed in South Korea, featuring an eco-friendly design that eliminates the use of sulfur hexafluoride. This gas is known for its substantial environmental impact, possessing a global warming potential 23,500 times greater than carbon dioxide.
