Heavy Snow Advisory Lifted for Seoul but Remains for Other Regions

Seoul: A heavy snow advisory that was issued for Seoul has been lifted as of 6:10 p.m., though it continues to be in effect for other regions, including the central cities of Daejeon and Cheonan, according to the state weather agency.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the heavy snow advisory for Seoul was initially issued at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, with expectations of up to 8 centimeters of additional snowfall in the capital. The advisory is typically issued when an accumulation of 5 or more centimeters of snow is anticipated within a 24-hour period.

The weather agency has forecasted that snowfall will persist through Friday in the greater Seoul area, as well as in parts of Gangwon and Chungcheong provinces. There is also a possibility that the snow may extend to Sunday on the southern island of Jeju.

The state weather agency has cautioned the public about slippery road conditions, with morning temperatures predicted to range between minus 15°C and 0°C. In response, the Seoul metropolitan government has mobilized 4,926 officials and 1,318 pieces of equipment to clear the snow and inspect roads.

Additionally, the city government has advised drivers to operate their vehicles at reduced speeds and has urged pedestrians to remain vigilant to prevent possible injuries.
