Seoul: Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's top automaker, reported a 3 percent increase in its U.S. sales for February compared to the previous year, achieving its highest-ever sales for the month. Hyundai Motor's U.S. sales reached 62,032 units in February, surpassing the 60,341 units sold in the same period last year. The company confirmed that this figure represents the largest for any February.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the growth in Hyundai's sales was significantly driven by a 194 percent surge in sales of the Santa Fe hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) and a 12 percent increase in sales of the Ioniq 6 EV. These models contributed to the overall positive performance in the U.S. market.
Kia Corp., Hyundai's sister company and South Korea's second-largest carmaker, also reported a record-breaking sales month in the U.S. Kia's sales rose 7.2 percent year-on-year to 63,303 units. The company credited this increase to its range of sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and the strong performance of the new K4 sedan.
