London: Hyundai Motor Co. and its smaller affiliate Kia Corp. together ranked among the top five in vehicle sales in Britain for the first time in June, British industry data showed Sunday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Hyundai sold 10,109 vehicles in Britain last month, which marks a 9.9 percent increase from the same period last year, securing the fourth position in the market.
Kia, although experiencing a 2.6 percent drop in sales compared to the previous year, sold 10,043 units and maintained its position as the fifth best-selling brand in the country. Strong local demand for Hyundai's Tucson and Kia's Sportage SUVs contributed significantly to this robust sales performance.
Hyundai is on track to sell over 100,000 vehicles in Britain this year as it gears up to launch its all-electric Ioniq 9 flagship SUV later in the year.
