Hyundai and Kia Experience Decline in European Sales in April

Seoul: Combined vehicle sales of South Korea's leading automaker Hyundai Motor Co. and its affiliate Kia Corp. in Europe fell 1.8 percent from a year earlier in April, industry data showed Tuesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, data from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) revealed that Hyundai and Kia sold a combined 89,890 units in Europe last month. Hyundai Motor's sales declined by 3.3 percent on-year to 45,227 units, while Kia's sales saw a slight drop of 0.2 percent to 44,663 units.

The South Korean automakers reported a total of 357,201 units sold in Europe during the January-April period, marking a 3.4 percent decrease compared to the same period last year. The combined market share of Hyundai and Kia in Europe for the first four months of the year was recorded at 8 percent, which is a decline of 0.3 percentage point from the previous year.
