Hyundai Ioniq’s Global Sales Surpass 500,000 Units

Seoul: Hyundai Motor Co.’s Ioniq series has achieved a significant milestone, with global sales surpassing 500,000 units, the group announced on Sunday. This achievement marks a first for the series since the launch of the Ioniq 5 four years ago.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the company has sold a cumulative total of 514,588 units of its Ioniq series, which includes the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and Ioniq 9, as of last month. The series made its debut with the Ioniq 5 in 2021, and since then, sales have shown a steady upward trend. In 2021, 65,906 units were sold, with sales climbing to 114,548 in 2022, and reaching 169,812 in 2023.

The previous year saw a dip in sales to 121,375 units due to a temporary decline in demand for electric vehicles, but recent figures suggest a potential recovery. Last month, the series sold 16,368 vehicles, marking a 41 percent increase compared to the same period the previous year.

The Ioniq 5, along with its high-performance variant, the Ioniq 5 N, emerged as the most popular models, collectively accounting for 407,607 units, or 80 percent of the total sales. A company official stated, “We will strive to keep up the popularity of the Ioniq series in the global market by strengthening its commercial value and expanding its market base.”
