Seoul: Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's largest carmaker, announced a 1.5 percent increase in sales for June compared to the same month last year, driven by heightened demand domestically and internationally. The company reported that it sold 358,891 vehicles in June, an increase from the 353,566 units sold during the same period the previous year.
According to Yonhap News Agency, domestic sales saw a significant rise of 3.8 percent, climbing from 59,804 to 62,064 units. Meanwhile, overseas sales experienced a 1 percent growth, with sales figures increasing from 353,566 to 358,891 units. A company official attributed the sales growth to the expanded sales of various models and emphasized the company's commitment to maintaining sales momentum by introducing competitive new vehicles in the future.
For the first half of the year, Hyundai's cumulative sales showed a slight increase of 0.1 percent, with 2,066,425 vehicles sold compared to 2,063,844 in the same timeframe last year. Domestic sales for this period rose by 2.7 percent, from 354,704 to 354,900 units. However, overseas sales saw a minor decline of 0.4 percent, decreasing from 1,718,140 to 1,711,525 units.
