Seoul: A Japanese woman accused of unexpectedly kissing BTS member Jin on the cheek during a meet-and-greet event last year has been booked by police. Seoul's Songpa Police Station said Thursday the woman in her 50s was booked and summoned for questioning on charges of sexual harassment in a public space.
According to Yonhap News Agency, police investigations revealed that the fan kissed the star, whose real name is Kim Seok-jin, on the cheek during a "free hug" event. This event was attended by 1,000 fans on June 13, a day after Jin's discharge from the military. The incident has sparked discussions regarding personal boundaries and consent at public gatherings involving celebrities.
The police are continuing their investigation into the incident, which has drawn significant attention due to BTS' immense global fanbase and the issues of privacy and consent it raises. The outcome of this case may set a precedent for how similar incidents are handled in the future.
