Justin Rose Sets New Tournament Record with Commanding Victory at Farmers Insurance Open

San Diego: England's Justin Rose delivered a commanding performance to secure a win at the Farmers Insurance Open, setting a new tournament record score. Rose, who previously won the tournament in 2019, led by six shots heading into Sunday’s final round at Torrey Pines South Course and maintained his composed play to secure his 13th PGA Tour title.

According to BBC, Rose finished seven strokes ahead of his closest competitors, completing the tournament at 23 under par. This score surpasses the previous tournament record of 22 under, set by Tiger Woods in 1999 and George Burns in 1987. Rose, at 45 years old, also became the oldest player since Rocco Mediate in 2010 to achieve a wire-to-wire victory, leading throughout all four rounds.

Rose's final round featured birdies on the sixth, eighth, and ninth holes, with a lone bogey at the 12th. Reflecting on his performance, Rose expressed satisfaction with his achievement and noted his focus on maintaining a strong lead. "This has been a huge win and to start the season with a win is amazing," Rose stated. He emphasized his strategy of setting mini goals throughout the tournament to maintain his concentration and manage his game effectively.

American Pierceson Coody recorded the best round of the day with a seven-under-par 65, securing a tie for second place with South Korea's Si Woo Kim and Japan's Ryo Hisatsune, both of whom shot 69s. American Jake Knapp and Germany's Stephan Jaeger finished just one shot behind them.

Five-time major winner Brooks Koepka, participating in his first PGA Tour event since leaving LIV Golf, concluded the tournament tied for 56th after a final round of 70.
