Changwon: The NC Dinos announced they will consider playing their remaining home games this season at an alternate stadium due to safety issues at their current ballpark, where a fan died in an incident in March. The team has not played at Changwon NC Park since March 29, following the tragic event during a game against the LG Twins. A female fan was fatally injured when a louver panel fell from the stadium's office window.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Dinos and the municipal government of Changwon initiated extensive safety inspections at Changwon NC Park, which has been closed indefinitely since the incident. These inspections were conducted in collaboration with officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. However, a recent meeting failed to determine a timetable for the stadium's reopening.
The Dinos emphasized the necessity of fundamental safety measures for the stadium's facilities. In a statement, they confirmed their commitment to cooperating with further safety steps and their intention to work with the KBO to find a temporary home for the 2025 season to avoid disruptions to the league schedule. The decision on an alternate home will be made promptly, prioritizing the safety of fans and players.
In light of these developments, the KBO has adjusted the Dinos' home schedule. The series against the KT Wiz, initially set for Changwon NC Park, will now be held at KT Wiz Park in Suwon. Similarly, the Dinos' recent games against the Kia Tigers were played at the Tigers' home in Gwangju. Previous games have also been relocated or postponed due to ongoing safety inspections.
