KBO Sets New Single-Season Sellout Record with 224 Games

Seoul: The South Korean baseball league has set a single-season record for sellouts, marking a significant milestone in its history. With three of the five games held at full capacity on Friday night, the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) achieved 224 sellouts for the season.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the league had previously set a record with 221 sellouts in 720 games last year. This new record was reached after just 470 games this season. The Hanwha Eagles have been at the forefront of this achievement, with 40 sellouts at their new stadium, Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark in Daejeon, located 140 kilometers south of Seoul. Their most recent sellout occurred on Friday night when they defeated the SSG Landers 4-0 in front of 17,000 fans.

In Suwon, 30 kilometers south of Seoul, the KT Wiz secured an 8-5 victory over the Samsung Lions with 18,700 fans attending the game at KT Wiz Park. Meanwhile, in the southeastern city of Busan, 22,669 fans witnessed the Lotte Giants triumph over the Kia Tigers 7-4 at Sajik Baseball Stadium.

The KBO surpassed 8 million fans in a record 465 games on Thursday night and is approaching the single-season record of 10.88 million fans set last year.
