Seoul: Kia Corp., South Korea's second-largest carmaker, announced the launch of an upgraded Sorento sport utility vehicle (SUV) in the domestic market. The move aims to boost sales for the company.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the 2026 Sorento is offered in three different trims. These include a 1.6-liter gasoline hybrid turbocharged engine model, a 2.2-liter diesel engine model, and a 2.5-liter gasoline turbocharged engine model. The company highlighted the enhanced safety features in the new model, such as lane-keeping assist and a steering-wheel grip sensor system. Prices for the latest Sorento begin at 39 million won, equivalent to approximately US$28,000.
The Sorento SUV continues to be one of Kia's best-selling models on a global scale. In addition to the Sorento, Kia is known for producing other popular models, such as the Sportage SUVs and K5 sedans. The company reported sales of 1,587,161 vehicles in the January-June period, marking a 2 percent increase from the previous year.
