Seoul: Kia Corp., South Korea's second-largest automaker, announced on Wednesday that it has revised its 2030 global sales target to 4.19 million units. This is a reduction from the previously suggested target of 4.3 million units, reflecting growing challenges in the Chinese market.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the updated sales goal was unveiled by Kia's chief executive officer, Song Ho-sung, during the company's 2025 CEO Investor Day event held in Seoul. The company highlighted the necessity to adjust its goals pragmatically, taking into account macroeconomic challenges and increasing geopolitical risks.
Under the new plan, Kia aims to secure a 4.5 percent share of the global market by 2030. The company has set regional sales targets, aiming for 1.01 million vehicles annually in America, 770,000 units in Europe, 580,000 units in South Korea, and 400,000 units in India by the target year.
Kia also plans to sell 2.33 million eco-friendly vehicles by 2030. This includes ambitions to sell 1.26 million electric vehicles and 1.07 million hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. To achieve these goals, Kia intends to expand its lineup of electric vehicles from the current nine models to 15 by 2030. Concurrently, the company will reduce its internal combustion engine lineup from 23 models to 17, aligning with the global shift towards zero emissions and electrification.
Kia further stated that it expects hybrid sales to reach 993,000 units by 2030, spanning across 10 models. To support this growth, the automaker plans to increase its annual hybrid powertrain production capacity to over 900,000 units by the same year.
