Kim Hyo-joo Returns to Top 10 After LPGA Major Runner-Up Finish

Seoul: South Korean veteran Kim Hyo-joo is back inside the top 10 in the women’s golf rankings after her runner-up showing at an LPGA major in Texas over the weekend. Kim moved up six spots to No. 7 in the latest women’s rankings released Tuesday. She lost in a five-way playoff at the Chevron Championship, the first LPGA major of the season, in The Woodlands, Texas, on Sunday, as Mao Saigo of Japan claimed her maiden LPGA title.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim had last been inside the top 10 after the end of last year’s Chevron Championship. Another South Korean, Ko Jin-young, jumped three spots to No. 8 in this week’s rankings after tying for sixth at the Chevron Championship. South Korea did not have a top-10 player last week – the first such absence since June 2006 – and now is one of two countries, alongside the United States, with multiple players inside the top 10.
