Busan: South Korea's main bourse operator announced on Monday that it will hold a global conference on the derivatives market in the southern port city of Busan next week. The event, aimed at discussing the future of the derivatives industry, will gather key figures from the financial world.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the single-day event will be co-hosted by the Washington-based Futures Industry Association. It will see participation from officials representing local financial institutions, global investment banks, and international rating agencies. The Korea Exchange (KRX) has revealed that the forum will feature two panel discussions, allowing attendees to share their insights on the South Korean derivatives market and its future prospects.
The Korea Exchange highlighted that the event is significant as it coincides with the inaugural year of after-hours trading of derivatives in South Korea. Additionally, it marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the KRX's headquarters in Busan, which is located approximately 330 kilometers south of Seoul. The KRX expressed its intention to engage in discussions on industry trends, including the expansion of trading hours and the introduction of digital assets, with market participants to shape the future direction of the derivatives market.
